infected tattoo??...?
before i ask my question, yes i do know this was a stupid ting to do. last night i gave myself a tattoo on my ankle with just a needle and ink from a pen. today it looks red and is sort of sore. it was just a small outline of a star and i didnt go to deep. most of my friends said i wont get ink poisoning but it could get infected. what do you guys think?

I am glad that you have learned from your mistake but seeing that you did the tattoo yourself i would conclude that this is your first so i will tell you that when you get a tattoo it is a little red and sore i would make sure that you wash with dial soap and be sure that you keep it clean if you see puss go to the doctors but keep in mind that fresh tattoos are always red and sore .

Why don't you go to a real tattoo parlor, tell them what you did and see what they think about it. Just to be safe.

I think that was silly to do, did you sterilise everything? Go to the Dr. blood poisening and infection, not good.

hmmm you should go to the doctor so they can get you on some antibiotics. people are tatoo artists for a reason; you I assume, are not one.

Yeah, I'd go to the Doctor. Putting any foreign substance into an open wound (which you created with a needle) is going to cause infection.

well i have a real tattoo, and the first night it was red, bloody and swollen. the next day the blood was gone, but it was still swollen and sore, and a little red. it scabbed for about a week but it's been fine ever since. i can't see how your tattoo would be any different from mine because it's still injecting ink into your skin whether you did it professionally or not. DON'T put neosporin on it.... use unscented lotion or buy the 'tattoo goo' from a parlor. just wash it a couple times a day and keep it moisturized. and no matter how bad it itches, do not scratch it. slapping it a couple of times should help relieve the itch... but don't scratch it! i would still consult a proffesional though if i were you.... good luck

i would not trip yet.. i have many tattoos and they usually get red around the edges of an outline.. but if it does not get better after one more day then i'd do something.. put some ointment on that thing though!! good luck

As you said - a very stupid move. Please get some help. Take the ink with you so that the doctor can tell you if you need to worry about the ink. Please don't do anything like this in future. See a professional if you must have a tattoo.

i gave myself a tattoo when i was younger. Stupid move! LOL But it didnt get infected cause i kept putting triple antibiotic on it! Its gonna be painful for a couple days. you poked at your skin so yeah its gonna be red and painful try some neosporin with pain reliever in it!
