| Is there a special type of tool or anything that can find where a fan outlet box is under the drywall? There were a few fan electrical outlets that were covered up when drywalled and not measured and forgot to cut out, is there a specific tool that I can use in order to find where these are at in order to cut them out? All Answers Answer 1 yes..its called a studfinder! 2008-07-10 10:13:44 Answer 2 "lonetige" should have been more thorough with his answer, he's correct, but make sure that the stud finder that you buy has a setting for metal/electrical. if the sheetrock is all screwed down, you may be able to find the "bump" of the outlet box with just a level, or a straight edge, scrap piece of wood, etc. just lay it on the wall where you think you remember the outlet is, move it up and down, and side to side over the general area until you have determined the highest point on the wall. good luck, hope you find it easily. 2008-07-10 11:20:10 Answer 3 Go up in the attic (if you have one above the ceiling where the fan boxs are) and poke a small hole in the ceiling next to the fan boxes and thru the drywall 2008-07-10 11:54:27 |
