Paint the wood studs with oil-based paint to kill the mold that has infected the wood. Paint even where you don't see the mold before replacing the drywall.

the drywall must be removed. If there is mold on the outside, then my money says there is mold on the inside of the wall as well. Take the drywall off, leave it sit for a while to really dry out well. then you can either spray it with a bleach solution, or paint it with an oil-based paint. Either way, let it dry well before you put the new drywall back on.
